We do not use your information to send general marketing messages.

We normally receive information directly from you when you:

  • Request a quotation or make a booking

  • Bring your vehicle to us or arrange a mobile service

  • Pay for a service or request a receipt or invoice

why we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and provide quotations

  • Arrange, manage and carry out bookings

  • Contact you about your vehicle or requested work

  • Provide mobile services at the correct address

  • Maintain records of work completed

  • Process payments and issue receipts or invoices

  • Meet our tax, accounting and legal obligations

  • Handle questions, complaints or disputes

  • Protect ATD’s legitimate business interests

  • Publish before-and-after photographs where appropriate permission has been given

our lawful basis

UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using personal information.

We normally rely on:

Contract – when using your information to provide a quotation, arrange a booking or carry out a service you have requested.

Legal obligation – when retaining invoices, receipts and other records needed for tax, accounting or legal purposes.

Legitimate interests – when maintaining appropriate service records, responding to complaints, establishing or defending legal claims and operating and protecting our business. We only rely on legitimate interests where your rights and interests do not override them.

Consent – when identifiable photographs of your vehicle are used for social media or promotional purposes. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

ATD may take before-and-after photographs to record the condition of a vehicle and the work completed.

We will obtain permission before using photographs containing identifiable information for social media or promotional purposes. Where appropriate, registration plates and other identifying details will be hidden or removed.

You may withdraw your permission for future use by contacting us. Withdrawal will not affect any use that took place before permission was withdrawn, although we will remove photographs under our control where reasonably possible.

who we share information with 

We do not sell or trade your personal information.

Where necessary, information may be processed or shared with:

  • Wix, which provides our website, enquiry forms and related website services

  • IONOS, which provides our business email service

  • Facebook and Instagram where photographs are published with appropriate permission

  • Accountants, professional advisers or insurers where necessary

  • HM Revenue & Customs, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or other authorities where required by law

  • Other service providers that help us operate our business securely

We only share the information necessary for the relevant purpose.

Some technology and social-media providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this happens, we expect the provider to use a legally recognised safeguard, such as applicable adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

how long we keep information for

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed.

  • Enquiries that do not result in a booking will normally be retained for up to 12 months.

  • Customer, booking, service, payment, receipt and invoice records will normally be retained for up to six years to meet tax, accounting and legal requirements.

  • Photographs retained as part of a service record will be kept only for as long as they are reasonably needed.

  • Photographs published with permission may remain on our social-media pages until they are no longer required or permission is withdrawn.

Information may be retained for longer where required by law or where it is needed in connection with a complaint, dispute or legal claim.

how we protect your information

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, misuse or disclosure. Access is limited to Karl and any service provider or professional adviser who genuinely needs the information for an authorised purpose.

Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information

  • Ask us to delete your information

  • Ask us to restrict how your information is used

  • Object to certain uses of your information

  • Ask for information you provided to be transferred

  • Withdraw your consent where we rely on consent

These rights are not absolute and exemptions may apply. To make a request, contact Karl using the details at the beginning of this notice. We will normally respond within one month.
